Something lovely is coming! This space is growing into something new—something that brings together the art I love to make, the words I love to write, and the home I love to build. 💛

It started with an idea, back in 2010 when I first opened my Etsy storefront. Then in 2017 I realized motherhood is the journey of a lifetime, and one I could not walk alone. I realized I could write my stories down, as life became blog fodder. For years I felt like I was just the lady next door. I was a mom, but was I really ONLY a mom? Mission of Motherhood began to feel limiting somehow, as if I couldn’t share something that wasn’t strictly motherhood related.

As my kids get older, my life is less about turning food into humans and then keeping those tiny humans alive, and more about getting through the longest shortest time. In 2023, I finally had the guts to consider myself an artist, and that gave birth to The Artist Next Door (moms are always giving birth, aren’t we? Kids, ideas, hobbies, you name it). This year I began collaborating with other crafty neighbors, and we formed The Porchlight Collective. I finally had the push I needed–how can I consolidate all my endeavors under one umbrella in a way that feels cohesive? How can I share life and shop updates without having to send people to multiple different places?

Motherhood as a village…Artist Next Door…Neighbors sharing their crafts and wares…Porchlight…ah-ha! HOUSE ON A HILL! And my house actually is at the top of my street (and sits on a hill on our property)! It just feels too perfect to ignore. 💛

Very soon, this blog and all the stories I’ve written to date will migrate to a subpage of houseonahill.co It will be similar to what you’ve always found here: a place where faith meets creativity, except this new platform is where I’ll be sharing about faith, motherhood, painting, and everything in between. I hope to be able to share with you the beauty of the everyday — AND I’ll be able to show you my art, shop, and other side hustles — all in one place.

I’m so glad you’re here, and if you wish to continue being a part of this village, you’ll need to resubscribe. Stay tuned, friends.
