Halfway Through Advent 2020

I’ve written about Advent resources before, and social media is full of things to buy and do this time of year, so I’m sure there’s no shortage of information being thrown at you from one avenue or another. This year has been full of all different kinds of challenges due largely to the coronavirus pandemic and the ways it has changed many facets of every day life. As I was lamenting with some friends about the ways that social distancing has robbed* me of some of the joy of this season, I got to thinking about Advent.

How Can You Call Yourself A Christian And Still Vote For…?

Scripture in a Tumultuous Election

This is a hard post to write, and one I partly wish I never had to publish and partly wish I’d published months ago. This time is divisive anyway; add it to the pressure-cooker of the COVID-19 pandemic, and man, 2020 begins to feel more and more like a dumpster fire.

But I digress, and if you’ve yet to cast your vote, I hope you’ll think objectively. This conversation isn’t an easy one, as both Republicans and Democrats have some deeply held convictions, and I think it’s important to recognize how hard it can be to break from tradition.

You Can Read the Entire Bible in 120 Days

That’s only 4 months! If I can do it, you can do it!

120 days is only 4 months. It seems daunting to read the entire Bible in only 4 months (cover to cover!), but it can be done. I know, because I did it. Actually, I shouldn’t lie, I did it in 128 days (I fell off the wagon at Thanksgiving and Christmas because we had so much family stuff going on), but my point is it’s TOTALLY do-able.

I’m not here to humble brag — I’m here to encourage you in this incredible task!

This post contains an affiliate link to the Bible I used for this plan. You can view the full disclosures policy here.

It Takes A Village: Mothers Ministry, Year 3 Update

The mothers ministry at my church began back in 2016 when my oldest wasn’t yet a year old, and we’re now almost halfway into our 3rd year!

It Takes A Village: Year 3 (https://missionofmotherhood.com/mothers-ministry/)

I previously wrote about starting a mothers ministry at my church here, and since then I also created a page to compile all the resources I’d been sharing on Instagram that proved to be encouraging to moms/leaders or helpful in planning some content. You can check that page out here.

Now that it’s been a well over a year since that first post on starting a mothers ministry (which was then a year into itself), I thought I’d fill you in on what we’ve been up to, what has been helpful, and what challenges we still face. At the end, please feel free to comment if you have anything to add, or have any questions. This is a safe place and I appreciate and welcome the input!

What’s the Mission?

Hi there, I’m Caitlin: mama bear, joy-seeker, daughter of the King, and wife! I’m from upstate NY, but now we live in NC. In addition to being a stay at home mom, I’m an avid DIY crafter, volunteer, disciple, and village-builder. My mission here is to bring you some encouragement along the journey of motherhood through my faith, foibles, and failures as I bumble and stumble along the path of life as a woman, wife, and mom of little kids.
